53 days remain until kickoff of the 2021 IU football season. The Hoosiers will kick off the season against Iowa on Sept. 4th. Make sure to keep checking the Hoosier Huddle website each day for a new player in the 100-day countdown. The 53rd players on the countdown is redshirt freshman Stephen Walker and true freshman Vinny Fiacable.

Vinny Fiacable

Height: 6’4’’

Weight: 318 pounds

Hometown: Fort Wayne, IN

Position: Offensive Line

Fiacable comes to IU as a three-star recruit according to 247sports.com. During high school Fiacable played left tackle and guard for Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne.

He comes in after being named a top 50 all-state selection during 2020. He was also ranked the No.10 prospect in Indiana as well as the No. 38 offensive guard nationally by ESPN.

Earlier in the summer, Fiacable had a press conference and talked about his adjustment to college ball.

“It was a big adjustment from Fort Wayne to Bloomington. It is a new setting. It is college football now, not high school. Getting to know the guys at first was tough because you are coming into a new environment. As of right now I have a lot of new friends, the offensive linemen are awesome. They are good guys,” Fiacable said.

Fiacable has already learned a lot during his first few practices for IU and has had to make many adjustments while getting used to college football.

“The speed of the game was a huge adjustment. The overall mental aspect of the game was a learning curve for me. Just learning all the new plays and getting reps with them. I am still learning the playbook and still learning the plays. It is a big learning curve from high school to now college. Being locked in and focused at practice is what will help me throughout the summer,” Fiacable said.

To continue, playing football for the Hoosiers runs in the family for the Fiacable family as his dad Steve was an IU offensive linemen, his brother Steve was also an IU offensive lineman and his other brother Mike was an IU quarterback.

Fiacable will look to sure up the depth of the offensive line as he competes in his first collegiate season and fights for some playing time.
